…wah-wah-wah…..a descending french horn signals the punchline of my recent trip to telluride colorado……..i brokeded myself……all over again…..this time it was my ankle……for those of you who don’t know or are having trouble recollecting…..a few years back a similar trip to telluride left me with broken collarbone, elbow and wrist……do you see the pattern emerging??….this time it happened within minutes of arriving in town…….well needless to say my travelling companions, rel and moodswangz, were a little upset with me at first…….
…..but soon they cheered up n realized they could have fun without me….
…i think……….well you have to know them….those are there happy faces…….once i got a few pain pills in me, i even cheered up n put my happy face on……….
…..but regardless of my physical or emotional state…the show must go on……albeit with a stool to prop me up……..
…..in case you were confused which one was me, some helpful fans pointed me out….actually at that point, i was confused which one was me….but from what i hear it was still a good show and everyone had a good time…….and soon i was back in the prone position…ready for whatever else the weekend had in store….as long as i didn’t have to leave the hotel room to experience it…….
……in the end….we managed to have a good time despite my best efforts otherwise……on our way out of town we decided to pose with the big stupid van we drove there n back in hopes of putting some perspective on the weekend…..
….now i’m back in chicago…where i’ve been informed that an infection has developed around my ankle fracture that is actually far more serious than the fracture itself…..on the bright side….the doctor upped the dosage of hydrocodone in my prescription n my uncle even tossed me some dilaudid…….yip-a-dang!……tomorrow i start physical therapy……..everythings coming up apoc……

….i saw this collection of stuff over the weekend….i don’t know why…but it struck me…
this week…i’m headed back to telluride colorado for my third visit to the plunge music festival…..at past festivals i’ve played with the likes of slick rick, rahzel, tre hardson of the pharcyde, dj logic and more…..this year the festivities have been scaled back a little…..but it should still a couple of great nights of shows…..rel and i will be playing friday night march 14th as the ritz at the fly me to the moon saloon with bionik brown…..katchooo….

….february was a lot of things this year:….a day longer than it was for the three years previous….the wettest of its kind ever recorded in illinois……5.2 degrees colder than the average chicago february…..black history month……and a period of blogging silence from yours truly(oh how u wept through those long cold february nights, hoping the following day would bring some sign of life from my flaccid blog)……it was also a month in which i played three shows in three different cities…….the third being right back here in my native chicago…….at the abbey pub with sole and the skyrider band, apes, and telephone jim jesus…….since i left you all in the dark about it last month….i’m gonna take this opportunity to try to redeem myself by playing ketchup(terrible!!) and hope that you’ll relish(ugh…why can’t i stop?!?) the occasion to catch a glimpse of what you missed….or didn’t for those lucky enough to be in attendance……so….with no further ado…..lettuce(why?!?) take a look at a video of me performing the song “heartless” on the 22nd of february at the abbey pub…..except..you’re gonna have to click on this link as i can’t seem to embed the youtube player into my blog with totally fucking up the formatting…..

…my favorite part is that you can hear the girl who filmed it rapping along to parts of it……the song is off of the forthcoming ritz(apoc + rel) album “the night of day”…..which should hit stores sometime in april…..it was also released as the b-side to the blown 12″ which is already available from fine vinyl dealers everywhere……heres a pic of me from the show…
…everybody i performed with that night was impressive…but i was especially taken by the dc-based psych-rock outfit apes…..heres a pic from their performance…..

..that’s a picture of moodswangz peein in my driveway in front of his “ford leghetto” …..it happened during february….like many other things you’ll soon hear about……it was right before he and i headed over to swig to celebrate my friend erica’s birthday…..where dj onceamonth, j. lee and special guest dj ginsu had every drunk in the place dancin to eazy e and the other ns with a……heres a picture….
ginsu pretends to be asleep while swangz rubs on once’s man chest right next to him..
fun fact: after closing swig down and crossing the street to close down the 5am bar…..i drove home!!!

advice:
don’t let moodswangz convince you to go to tong’s tiki hut with him n have boat drinks with lunch…..first….no matter what he says….the food sucks…..second…..it’s 2 in the afternoon on a tuesday….you don’t need to be drinking……third……..(and most importantly)…..the pineapple juice in the mai-tais you’re drinking has gone bad……that’s why it tastes like there’s sweet and sour mix in it…..it’s going to give you food poisoning and totally ruin your wednesday…….you should have known something strange was afoot when your drinks were served in ceramic glasses that resembled those moai statues from easter island…..(those guys are just creepy)…..and everyone elses drinks were served in ceramic glasses with hula girls on the sides…..
